How to Make A Personalised Colouring & Activities Journal Book

Create a unique kiddies colouring and activities journal book with a handy pen and pencils holder for use at home or when travelling away on holidays. Use your digital and acrylic stamps to make fun colouring pages and customise the book further with puzzles, photos, stories, poems and jokes to make a very special, personalised book that will keep your child busy and interested.

The pencils holder has an elastic ribbon that can fit to any other book or notepad and doubles up as a bookmark too. Pens are kept in place and always kept with the book.

Download and print the digital files for the covers and pages. If you can add the images to a Word document or a graphics software program, you will be able to mix and match images before printing. You will need one A4 page of each design for the cover and one for the back cover. the digital stamps for colouring pages can be printed as two A5 landscape pages on one A4 sheet and trimmed to A5 size.

Cut four pieces of 22.5cm x 16.5cm greyboard. Cut in half the A4 pages with the digital stamps printed on. You can include blank pages and other pages too.

Glue the cover papers onto the greyboards.

Punch holes on covers and on pages. Add eyelets on covers. Open the binding rings and add the pages to the book.

Cut two pieces of 12cm x 12cm Kraft-Tex Paper Fabric. Fold in half to create a folder.

Use a pencil to mark 1.5cm spaces starting at 0.5cm from the edge. Cut a 14cm long piece of elastic ribbon. Fold inside the edge at about 2cm and set with the rivets. Continue adding rivets on the marks. Keep the elastic ribbon loose between the pockets you create to allow the pens and pencils to slip into position.

Remember to turn the Kraft-Tex Paper Fabric to the other side to secure the rivets before proceeding to the next one. End the ribbon folding again before setting the two final rivets.

When finished with the rivets, cut a 20cm long piece of the elastic ribbon. Glue it inside the Kraft-Tex folder. Now, fold and glue well on the three open sides.

Set a book ring on the rivet set ribbon finish and a metal D-ring on the last placed ribbon.

Wrap the pen and pencils holder around the book to finish.
